So You Wanna Visit India?

  1. Keep from fatigue. With so much to see in India, it’s important to have realistic expectations about how much you can accomplish when visiting.

  2. Enjoy the heat. Take a few weeks before your trip to become accustomed to the warmer weather of India by not using the AC. The weather is beautiful in India, but is also very warm, especially in the summer, so make the transition easier on your body by getting used to warmth.

  3. Learn how to bargain. Bargaining is a way of life with locals, so don’t be afraid to say no to a sale, most likely the shop owner will lower the cost anyway because they want your business.

  4. Morning people beware. Most places in India don’t open before 9:00 AM. Furthermore, many businesses take long lunch breaks or close for a couple of hours in the afternoon for relaxation and prayer.

  5. Ride a motorcycle. It is more cost effective and recommended by locals to get a motorcycle to maneuver the streets more easily. That is, if you are comfortable driving in traffic there.
